Using 3D environments in quotes

We look to use 3D wherever it fits into customer's marketing and wherever integrations allow us to.
Our customer - Powercore - a distributor of ergonomic office furniture in New Zealand - use quoting software called Quotientapp that allows them to load product images where you can see exactly what you are getting.
But we thought we would take it to the next step by linking to a totally immersive 3D environment that shows how you can create different modular layouts fitting an existing floorplan.
Below is what a quote looks like in Quotientapp.

This link sends you to a full-on immersive 3D environment where you can select the layout that most suits your office size.
Essentially, you can configure the modular sofa product to suit your space (see below). We use hotspots to highlight product features and the square buttons on top left let users view different modular layouts.

The 3D environment is hosted within an iframe on their site so it is treated as a backlink for SEO purposes and the more time visitors spend interacting with the 3D environment the more Google records it as time-spent-on-page boosting their organic rankings.
Finally we went to Quotientapp and suggested a feature where the 3D immersive environment sits within the quote without requiring linking. We helped them with the tech involved and they have now put it on their product road map.
It is worth pointing out that the cost of this was minimal. The models had already been done and had been supplied by the manufacturer anyway. The development of the UI (the buttons top left) and the floating images together with the loading and the linking took about 6 hours in total.
It reinforces our whole argument that once the upfront cost has been absorbed there is very little cost involved in leveraging it throughout your marketing.
